At Mayo School of Music, we offer engaging and educational Music Theory classes designed to support and enrich every student’s musical journey. These classes are especially encouraged for students learning a classical instrument, as a strong foundation in theory greatly enhances their understanding, performance, and appreciation of music.

Our theory lessons go beyond the basics—providing students with the tools to read and write music confidently, understand musical structures, and develop a deeper connection to their instrument. We recommend students work towards the annual Royal Irish Academy of Music (RIAM) Theory Examinations, which provide clear goals and recognition for their progress.
