Missed Classes, Punctuality & Cancellation Policy:
Students are expected to attend all scheduled lessons and classes on time. In the event that a student is unable to attend a lesson, it is the student's responsibility to notify both their teacher and the school office as soon as possible.
Lessons missed or cancelled by the student cannot be rescheduled, refunded, or credited. Teachers are scheduled and paid for their allocated teaching hours, and therefore the Mayo School of Music is unable to offer replacement lessons for student absences. Parents and students should ensure that their chosen lesson time fits comfortably within their weekly schedule.
While teachers may occasionally be able to offer a make-up lesson due to another cancellation in their schedule, this cannot be guaranteed and remains entirely at the teacher's discretion.
If a teacher is aware before the start of a term that they will be unavailable on specific dates, those lessons will not be included in the student's fees.
In the event of an unexpected teacher absence, the school will make every effort to arrange a replacement lesson at an alternative time. If the alternative lesson offered is not suitable for the student, a credit will be applied to the student's account.
The school is committed to minimising disruption to each student's learning and will make every reasonable effort to ensure continuity of tuition.
Students arriving late for lessons will receive the remainder of their scheduled lesson time only. As teacher schedules are often fully booked, additional time cannot be provided, and missed time due to lateness cannot be made up. Teachers are not obliged to provide replacement lessons or additional lesson time for absent or late students.
In the case of severe weather, public emergencies, or other circumstances beyond the school's control, replacement lessons may be offered at the discretion of the teacher and the school.
Withdrawal from Lessons:
The school must be notified in writing if a student wishes to withdraw from lessons or discontinue their course of study. A minimum of one week's notice (excluding school holidays) is required.
If a student is unable to attend lessons due to a long-term illness or injury, such as a broken arm, the school should be informed forthwith. We understand that unforeseen circumstances can arise, and these situations will be reviewed individually. Where appropriate, lessons may be paused and fees adjusted at the discretion of the school.
Lessons cancelled during a term are generally forfeited. Requests for refunds or credit notes will be considered on a case-by-case basis and remain entirely at the discretion of the Directors.
Please note that these policies may be reviewed and amended from time to time. Any changes will be communicated to students and parents in a timely manner.
Refunds Policy:
Refunds for private lessons at the Mayo School of Music can be requested until the third scheduled lesson. However, please note that group lessons or group courses are non-refundable. Please refer to the section on "Withdrawal" for more information regarding refund eligibility.
Withdrawal:
To initiate a withdrawal and request a refund or tuition deferral, you must provide written notice through email info.mayoschoolofmusic.com. Please be aware that verbal notice from students, parents, or faculty will not be accepted as a valid form of notification.
The tuition fee refund policy is as follows:
If the withdrawal notice is received at least one week before the first scheduled lesson, a full refund will be issued, deducting €25.
If the withdrawal notice is received at least two days before the second or third scheduled lesson, the student will be charged for the lessons already taken, along with an additional lesson.
After the third lesson, no refunds can be processed.
Refunds are not available for group classes. However, in exceptional circumstances, a deferral of a group course may be considered. Please note that if you qualify for a tuition discount due to a second private lesson or additional family members, the discount will be adjusted accordingly if you choose to withdraw.
